You will need to check the changes mentioned in the release notes for v 3.1. Focus on the new content related to the learning objective TA-3.2.3 ‘Analyze a given specification item(s) and design test cases by applying decision table testing’. Key dates to note for CTAL-TA:

• The previous 3.0 version of CTAL-TA in English will be valid until 3rd September 2021.
• For non-English Syllabi, the 3.0 version of CTAL-TA will be valid until 3rd December 2021.
• Non-English syllabi for CTAL-TA 2012 V2.0 are valid until 3rd August 2021 (the English syllabi for CTAL-TA 2012 V2.0 was withdrawn in February 2021)

Candidates who want to take an ISTQB^® Certified Tester Advanced Test Analyst (CTAL-TA) exam need to hold a valid ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level certificate. Find out more about CTAL-TA here.

Yes, all ISTQB^® certificates remain valid for life. Individuals wishing to stay up to date and relevant may choose to also take the latest version of a certification.

No reaccreditation is required since less than 5% of the Learning Objectives in the syllabus are impacted by the changes. Accredited Training Providers must submit a letter of confirmation to the accrediting Member Board stating that they have updated the training material accordingly.

Upgrading accredited course material from Advanced Test Analyst version 2012 to version V3.1 is possible. It requires a full re-accreditation of the material. Contact your local Member Board for more information.

The section on decision table testing has been reworked substantially. All the other changes are minor, making the text more precise and understandable without changing the meaning. You can find the syllabus and other relevant documents here.
